Deconstructing Dad—Introduction

I wrote this story to help me sort out some thoughts and feelings about the loss of my Dad and the settling of his affairs.  This story was submitted to the Washington Post Magazine in Spring 2008 and to the Montgomery Writes Contest for publication.  Unfortunately, it was not published. This short story is dedicated to my cousin, Bonnie, who departed this Earth on Saturday,
July 21, 2012.  She was a prolific writer—both professionally and recreationally—and an
extraordinary individual.  She inspired me to keep writing and to keep sending in those
manuscripts to the publishers.  God bless you, dear cousin.  You are missed.
