The Pit of Truth—Introduction

Who is the victim?  The Wife who suffers from a myriad of ever-worsening ailments—or the dutiful Farmer who must earn a living, raise their daughter, and care for his sickly wife? And what happens when the husband begins to resent his lot in life?  And what is the price that he must pay for expressing anger that comes with such a fate?
