A Cricket's Holiday—Introduction

During the first summer of my youngest daughter's life I would often put her in her stroller and go for short walks in the evening twilight. It just so happened that the cicadas awoke from their seventeeen-year slumber that year—and were they ever loud! I remember that as I pushed her, my mind would often think about what sort of life these amazing creatures lead. This served as the spark for several poems and for one very short story—appropriately titled
"A Cricket's Holiday." What wonderful memories!
